The Public Sector Leadership Challenge: Time to confront the challenges and drive change…
Our public sector leaders are doing an amazing job given the current economic climate, but there’s always room for improvement. We need more of a new type of leadership emerging across our public sector in the UK with leaders that are:
Overtly selfless; visionary; progressive; and mentally tough and resilient. Leaders who are: enablers; empowers of others; and encourage agility and adaptation.
Why? …Because the challenges that lie ahead over the next 3-5 years are immense and their actions and behaviours now, will affect our Country, our Communities, and our Citizen’s wellbeing for decades to come!
We urgently need to transform our public services and that will require extra vision and very brave decision-making from our leaders that breaks through inertia, delay, and resistance. The “transformation effort” must move our organisations from being unsustainable and now unaffordable 20th Century Industrial Era “rigid & inflexible machines” and turn them into 21st Century Digital Era “adaptable & agile living entities.” Living entities that have, at their very core, the values of SELFLESS SERVICE and, that help our Nation, our Communities, and our Citizens transition smoothly from two decades of year-on-year growth, to a decade of unprecedented challenge and tough economic conditions.
We need leaders who are prepared to:
- Challenge the previously unchallengeable (Like our current employment model);
- Think clearly and positively when faced with the unimaginable;
- Be brave and courageous enough to do the right things at the right time.
They will do so, not because of self-interest and reward, but rather, for the greater good of others they are privileged to “Serve to Lead.” Dew Cadre is keen to work with, and support, any progressive organisation(s) that is/(are) keen to remove barriers to change, push the boundaries, and shape a new more sustainable blueprint for the the public sector.
